Richard K. Diekmann, 88, passed away on March 4, 2008, at Broadmoor Assisted Living in Fort Pierce, FL.
He was born in Warren, Ohio, the youngest of four children to Ernest and Blanche Diekmann. He lived in Port St Lucie for the last four years of his life, coming to Florida from his family home in Dundalk, Baltimore County, Maryland to be near his son. He was a lifelong member and frequent treasurer/councilman of St. Timothy's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Dundalk, Maryland. He worked tirelessly to maintain many of the church's systems. He was often noted for climbing precariously to replace burned out lights in the overhead fixtures. He was a Mason and a high priest of the Royal Arch Masonic Lodge in Dundalk, Patapsco Lodge #183, and a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. He worked for many years as an accountant for the Glidden Paint company in Baltimore Maryland.
Survivors include his son, Richard Timothy Diekmann; two grandchildren, Samantha and Andrew; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings as well as his wife of 55 years, Pauline Diekmann.
A memorial service was held March 10, 2008 at the First Congregational Church in Port St Lucie. Interment of his cremains is in Meadowridge Memorial Park, Howard County, Maryland, next to his wife Pauline.
