Jimmy Dan Powell, 69, of Royse City passed away on February 25, 2013 at his residence. A memorial service celebrating Jimmy's life will be held at 1:00 P.M. Sunday March 2, 2014 at Ingram Funeral Home in Quinlan. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Honey Grove.
Jimmy was born March 17, 1944 to Pate and Thelma (Waters) Powell in Honey Grove. In 1954, he moved with his family to Sherman and Graduated from Sherman High School in 1962. He enjoyed the high school reunions with his school friends for many years. He enlisted in the Army on June 1, 1964. He was presented with an honorable discharge as a sergeant on May 31, 1970. He worked as a machinist at Varo in Plano. He then moved to the country and enjoyed his horses and cows. Jimmy was an avid hunter, enjoying every season with his Dad and stepson. Jimmy was a fun loving person to be around, always helping somebody and he loved to grill for family gatherings. Preceded in death by his parents and step-mother, Ria Powell.
Jimmy is loved and will be missed by his sisters Carrole Thompson and husband Lou of Sherman, Judy Bell and husband Alan of Greenville, Eddie Coppedge and husband Clay of Garland, Mona Busby of Quinlan; brother Wayne Powell of Honey Grove; stepson Mike Crawford and Numerous nieces and nephews.
We love you, brother, and will miss you everyday
