Honor For A Blencoe Boy
By an advance sheet of the President's New Years reception we notice that a Blencoe boy, Chester Samson, had the honor of being one of the personal guards to the President during the time that he was receiving the crowd of five thousand people at the White House. The program which is marked across the top, not for publication, we noticed had in memorandum in the handwriting of Secretary Loeb, "Hand to Officer Samson at once." Mr Samson has been a member of the metropolitan police force of Washington D.C. for over ten years and has made good. His first stark on the police force was about nine years ago when he roped a wild Texas steer that had the right of way on Pennsylvania Avenue and the whole police force at the Capitol City demoralized.
This article was obtained from Blencoe, Iowa's November 1908 Blencoe Herald Paper at the Onawa, Iowa Library. Theodore Roosevelt was President.
