Memorial service will be held 11:00 AM,. Thursday, October 13, 2011 at the Clear Lake United Methodist Church, 508 2nd Ave N., with Rev. Diana Hoover officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, 6:00 ? 8:00 PM at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake and one hour before the service at the church. Inurnment will be at the Clear Lake Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the American Heart Assoc. or Hospice of North Iowa. Roger was born October 22, 1934 on the family farm, south of Clear Lake, IA, the son of Glen and Agnes (Ulstad) Amosson. He attended and graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1953. He worked at Allied Mills for two years. Roger married Barbara Rice January 9, 1955 at Zion Lutheran Church in Clear Lake. He farmed the family farms until retiring in 2002. Roger?s favorite past time was fishing, hunting with his son-in-law Jeff, and having coffee with the hearing impaired group. He enjoyed golfing, playing cards, and watching sports, the Vikings, Twins and Iowa State University. Roger took pride in his Norwegian heritage and attending church Lutefisk Dinners in the fall. Roger and Barbara enjoyed spending their winters in Arizona where he did woodworking and jewelry. Roger was a former Clear Lake School Board member, Zion Lutheran Church member where he taught fifth grade Sunday school and was on church council and various committees. Roger is survived by his wife Barbara Amosson, Clear Lake, IA; three daughters Vicky Ernster and her husband Les, Rochester, MN, Susan Finnegan and her husband Michael, Clear Lake, IA and Amy Pierce and her husband Jeff, Rochester, MN; seven grandchildren Jennifer (David) Anderson, Mankato, MN, Sara (Bryce) Pronk, Rochester, MN, Christopher (Stephanie) Finnegan, Patrick Finnegan, Des Moines, IA, Nicholas Pierce, Meg Pierce and Claire Pierce, Rochester, MN; four great grandchildren Bennett and Alexis Pronk and Vaughn and Evelyn Anderson; brother Robert Amosson and his wife Patricia, Rockwell, IA and sister-in-law Susan Amosson, Des Moines, IA.
