Elizabeth was the daughter of Benjamin and Rebecca Long Betzer. She married first, Micajah Oxley, with whom she had a son, Anthony Taylor Oxley.

She married second, Bennett Alfred Burrous, with whom she had five children: Mary Burrous Laughlin, Marion Henry Burrous, Rebecca Jane "Dollie" Burrous Tohill, Richard O. Burrous and Ella Anna Burrous Logan.

The 1880 census stated that she was suffering from scroffula (a tuberculosis of the neck), which must have caused her death.

From Janet Donner: "I talked to the caretaker and here is what he said: the large stone of courts is of B.A. 1834-1900. there are 6 graves in the plot one to B.A., Richard, anna then just mother so I think that must be Elizabeth. then two babies Marie, and Bernie Burrous. no dates on eliz or the babies. I went over to take the pictures and to see if I could chalk anything and nothing came out that you could read. the writing on the stones is completely gone. there are some names on top but even with the chalking I couldn't make it out. so my guess is richard and ann are buried together and the other is elizabeth? I sent you the picture looking from the large stone of B.A. so that you can see there are spaces between his grave and the other stones."
