Karen Anne (Flood) Rochefort was born and raised in Westchester County, NY. She attended Yonkers schools and graduated with high marks from Roosevelt High in 1958 and subsequently the Katharine Gibbs School, which led to working for several years as a secretary and paralegal at the law firm Blakely Platt. She married her best friend, Ernie Rochefort, in October, 1966 and gave birth to daughter Elizabeth in 1968. She was talented in so many things including ceramics, knitting, crocheting, furniture restoration and jewelry-making, but her special talents lay in cake decorating, which she did for many friends and family members prior to starting her career at The Hartford in Hartford, CT in 1979. Karen retired in 2004 after 25 years of distinguished service, and spent her final four summers at her beloved home on Lake Champlain. She was a member of the United States Power Squadrons and the Red Hat Society.
