Donald is the son of Fred and Molly Walker Bangert. He enlisted in the US Army on the 25th of May 1951 and was wounded at Kumwha, Korea on the 9th of March 1952. He spent over a year at Walter Reed Army Medical Center at Washington D.C. He was honorably dischard from the Center on the 30th of June 1953. He returned home to Nebraska and married Barbara Pederson on the 6th of July 1954 at Alliance. He was a Television Repair Technition until his retirement. He was a lifetime member of the DAV Chapter #33; BPOE Lodge #1367;and VFW Post #9915. His children are: Janice; Steven; and Sally.

Don was cremated and the cremains were placed in the Veterans Circle at Bayard Cemetery
