Mrs. Marion Smith Baker

Mrs. Marion smith Baker died at her home at 19 Eighth street Sunday morning at 1:50 o'clock following an illness of several months. Funeral services will be held there on Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock with Rev. B.W. Dix of Binghamton and Dr. J.W. Flynn of the First Methodist Episcopal church officiating.

Mrs. Baker was born at Hapersfield on January 25, 1878, the daughter of Charles and Julia Disborn Smith. However, she came to Oneonta while still very young and has lived here for some time. She lived in Sidney for several years before coming to Oneonta about three years ago.

Mrs. Baker and Miss Clara Smith lived together at their home and Miss Smith had been most kind to her during her long illness. Surviving her are a son, Lynn H. Baker of Syracuse, a daughter, Miss Eleeta Baker, also of Syracuse, five sisters. Mrs. Charles Burton of Mechanicville, Mrs. Addie Ruland of Jefferson, Mrs. George Morey of Milford Center, and Mrs. Thomas Wolcott and Miss Etta Smith both of Waterford; two brothers, Leslie Smith of Cobleskill and Arthur Smith of Charlotteville.

While Mrs. Baker was of retiring disposition, required to be quiet during her years of poor health, many friends will deeply regret her passing and extend sincere sympathy to the family in their loss.["Oneonta Daily Star, Oneonta, Otsego, New York, October 1, 1923."]
