"Owned a successful rifle factory. He and Sarah went on an extended trip to Europe, leaving his factory in the managment hands of his nephew. The nephew took advantage of this position and lived high on the hog, lived the high life while entertaining a woman. Lloyd returned to find his factory in backruptcy and never regained his wealth and lost his health as a result. He became a shadow of his former self, failing under the harsh loss of his prosperity and ruination of his business by his nephew."~~ D.I. Patrick, grand daughter-in-law.
"He owned tanneries and the controlling interest of Springfield Rifle Company. He traveled for rest, leaving his nephew in charge who absconded with money which he squandered on a New York show girl. Pinketon company traced the nephew to Mexico but wasn't allowed admittance to pursue the trouble maker. Lloyd worked hard to rebuild and suffered a heart attack and stroke even while creditors were at the door. Uncle Charles, his brother, felt unfavorable toward Sarah Steeves so he didn't help reconstruct the business although he could."~~ Capitola Vik, niece. 13th US Census shows that in 1900 Lloyd and Sarah had 8 roomers in their home including Lloyd's brother, Charles Clark, as well as their family of four children. A record in 1905 shows that he called himself a tool maker. The 1905 Massachusett's Marriage Record of December 15th, shows that they married a second time after divorcing, in Central Falls, Rhode Island. It says this is the 'third marriage' for each of them and that their current status is divorced, indicating they have, at some point since their marriage in 1892, divorced and are choosing to remarry.
