Irene's mother was Helen Nowicki Bembenski Zdankiewicz. Irene lived in Great Falls Montana with her husband, Joseph Baluka, but returned to Connecticut when Joe shipped out with the US Army in late 1942. Unfortunately, Irene died of tuberculosis in February 1943. Irene's grave has no marker, but is found next to her grandparents, Stanislaw and Katarina Nowicki and her Dad, John Bembenski.
