SPRING VALLEY – Mass of Christian burial for Mina Collins will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Spring Valley, with the Rev. Edger Schaefer officiating. Spring burial will be at the church cemetery.
Mrs. Collins, 78, a Spring Valley homemaker, died early Friday morning at Spring Valley Community Memorial Hospital after a short illness.
Born Mina Ruud on Jan. 22, 1912, in Dawson, N.D., she moved as a young girl with her family to the Ostrander area. She married Cletus Collins here on Oct. 10, 1933. The couple made their home in Spring Valley where they operated Collins Produce for more than 50 years. Mr. Collins died Aug. 29, 1983.
Mrs. Collins was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church and it's rosary society.
Survivors include four sons, Nathan of Dallas, Stephen of Petaluma, Calif., Robert of Phoenix, Ariz., and Patrick of Memphis; a daughter, Kathleen (Mrs. Harold) Isaac of Stacyville, Iowa; 19 grandchildren; three sisters, Lettie Groby and Freida Grabau, both of Spring Valley, and Ella (Mrs. Thomas) Hedges of Steilacoom, Wash.; and one brother Otis Ruud of Auburn, Wash. She was preceded in death by a daughter, a grandson, three sisters and a brother.
Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Thauwald Funeral Home in Spring Valley where a rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.
