John W. Boswell, 86, Greenwood, died Thursday, April 3, 2008, at the Greenwood Convalescent Center.

Born March 11, 1922, in Greencastle, to Alva and Pearl (Ellis) Boswell.

Boswell served the nation in the Navy during World War II.

He was retired after working as Chief of Security for Chevrolet, Indianapolis.

He married Jeanette C. (Mercer) Boswell. She survives.

Additional survivors include five sons, Gail Boswell and wife Debby, Daniel Boswell and wife Pat, Gary Boswell, Charles Boswell and wife Jacklyn, and Jeffrey Boswell and wife Lisa, three daughters, Eleanor Neal and husband Sherman, Susan DeHart and husband John, and Margaret Tharp, 16 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, John David Boswell and Joseph Boswell, brother Leonard Boswell, and sisters Margaret Love and Frances Rae.

Services took place at 1 p.m., Monday, at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Greenwood Chapel, 481 W. Main St., Greenwood. Burial followed at Greenwood Cemetery.
