Kenneth Ashburner Boundy, 78, of Southington, CT, passed away Friday, (March 9, 2007). He was born in Dalton-in-Fumess, Lancashire County, England, son of Richard King Boundy of Park City, Utah and Violet Mary Ashbumer of Liverpool, England. He attended Robert E. Fitch High School in Groton and graduated from Admiral Billard Academy in New London. During World War II, he volunteered for the Submarine Service and after completing Submarine School he qualified in submarines and served on the USS Chopper in the Pacific. During his submarine duty, he was recommended for the Naval Academy and transferred to the Naval Academy Preparatory School in Bainbridge, Md. After passing his entrance exams he was discharged as a SI(SS) and entered the Academy with the class of 1952. Resigning from the Academy in February , 1951, as a member of the Class of 1953, he then went to work as a Draftsman Designer at Electric Boat Co. in Groton. From that position he moved to join the Plainville Electrical Products C. where they designed and built electric control panels for all nuclear submarines built in all U.S. shipyards. During his 28 years with the company, he became the majority stockholder and President of the company. He was a life time member of the U.S. Naval Academy, former member of the U.S. Naval Institute, Plainville Lions Club and Bristol Jaycees. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor, of 56 years, son Kenneth, Jr. and his wife Cheryl, of Canterbury, Richard and his wife Beth, of Plainville, daughter Pamela Lynn Dyer and her husband Donald, of Las Vegas, and Patricia Rehmer Silveira and her husband Gary , of West Hartford, brothers Richard Keith and his wife Betsy of Springfield, VT and John Kendal and his wife Marilyn of Arnold, CA and grandchildren and great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday March 13, 2007 at 10 a.m. at Bailey Funeral Home 48 Broad St. Plainville. Burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the U .S Naval Academy Scholarship Fund, 25 Maryland Ave, Annapolis, MD 21401.
