ADA - Services for Oleta V. Keel, 78, Ada, are 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, Dr. Bob Bender and the Rev. John Hayes officiating. Burial follows at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Keel died March 14, 2003, at a local hospital. She was born April 15, 1924, at Paradise, Texas, to Roy and Winnie Coffee Deatherage. She attended grade school in Paradise and graduated from high SChObl in EI Paso, Texas.
She married Lewellyn Jay Keel Feb. 2, 1948, at El Paso.
Mrs. Keel came to this area in 1958 from El Paso. She was employed by Safeway and Furr's Supermarkets in Texas for over 15 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church for over 40 years and taught children and youth Sunday school for 17 years. She was also a member of the Lydia Class and .the Rebecca Naylor Missionary Group of First Baptist Church, as well as the Federated Women's Democratic Club. She served as vice president for the local American Cancer Society and worked in local, tribal, state and federal campaigns for more than 30 years.
She is preceded in death by a son, Jim Weatherford Keel.
Survivors include her husband, Lewellyn Jay Keel, of the home; two daughters, Ann Bender and her husband, Frank, and Veta Wilson and her husband, Max, all of Tulsa; two sons, Lyndon Keel, Holdenville, and Jay Keel and his wife, Donna, Ada; eight grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Bearers are Max J. Wilson, Edward Adams, Max Wilson, Mitchell Wilson, Leland Keel, and Kenneth Keel.
Honorary bearers are Earl Keel, Jefferson Keel, Mack Casner, Robert Keel, Frank Bender and James Brown.
