Born to the parents Micaga Martin and Elizabeth Bennett in Henry County, Kentucky.
He married Sarah Frances Rhorer on June 1, 1856.
Became a Union Soldier in September 1864. Served as a private in Company "B" 54th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry. Mustered out September 1865.
After 1872 he moved his family to Lawrence County, Missouri where he purchased land and farmed.Between 1900 and 1910 he moved to Sarcoxie, Missouri.
