William E. P. Appel, 74, of 1138 Union St., died yesterday in the Allentown hospital. Born in Longswamp, he was a son of the late Johnathon and Mary (Heffner) Appel. Mr. Appel was a member of the Allentown Aerie, FOE, and the Macabes.

He is survived by three daughters, Myrtle, wife of Ralph Beitler, Emmaus; Helen, wife of Woodrow Lavenberg, Wescosville; and Gladys, wife of Robert Weaver, with whom he lived; two sons, LeRoy and Raymond, of Allentown; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, John, Allentown; and a sister, Mrs. Mamie Butz, Allentown. His wife, the former Maggie DeLong, preceded him in death.
