Mrs. Virginia Elliott Ashley, age 79, of Jefferson, NC died Monday, August 4, 2008 at her home. Mrs. Ashley was born December 13, 1928 to the late Lester J. and Daisy Osborne Elliott. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Ashley. She was a member of Rich Hill Baptist Church. She retired from Hanes Knit Products where she was a supervisor. Virginia was a caregiver to her brothers and sisters and loved all her nieces and nephews as her own children. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at 2 pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Charles McCoy, Rev. Lloyd Day, Rev. Jeff Dollar, and Rev. Tommy Dollar. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens in Jefferson, NC. The family will receive friends from 6 pm to 8 pm Tuesday evening, August 5, 2008 at Ashelawn. Flowers will be appreciated or memorials may be made to High Country Health Care Hospice, P.O. Box 421, Jefferson, NC 28640 or to Gideon's International, P.O. Box 993, West Jefferson, NC 28694. Mrs. Ashley is survived by: 5 brothers and 4 sisters. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
