My distant relatives were named Bofinger from a little town, Feuerbach, Wuerttemberg, Germany (now a suburb of Stuttgart) . . . Johann Heinrich Bofinger, called Henry Bofinger, was born 18 Dec 1822, and his brother Johann Gottlob Bofinger was born 12 Dec 1830. Probably Johann (John) Gottlob Bofinger lived nearby so he could keep an eye on his brother while he was in the state hospital, but he would not be buried in the same cemetery. A notation was made in the Family Register of the churchbooks of Feuerbach: "The municipal court of Stuttgart declared Johann Heinrich Bofinger for dead on Sept. 24, 1901. The determined date of death is January 1, 1900."
