Prominent landowner in smithland.
A.C. 'cy' Bostick had built a land empire in the 25th District by 1910. He owned 1345 acres which completely surrounded his home ,also known as Tom Woods home from 1928 to 1979+. A.C.'s property included land from Bear Wallow to Buckeye Creek, river bottom land along the elk river. land out Skeet Ridge and toward the Franklin County line.When Eliza,his oldest daughter, was thirty years old and ca.1894 A.C. gave her a large farm which her husband Bill Derrick worked and where they started their family.
A.C.Bostick was said to be the largest land owner in the 25th District in the early 1920's. He was a friendly, kind man who had a great imagination. even though Major Jarred Simmons had given A.C. a good start with money and land through A.C's wife Malinda, A.C. accoumulated and built up his wealth aided by his own intelligence,perserverance,and good fortune.

Roads overseers in 1880 were; A.C. Bostick,Edmund Ethridge,D.B.Gattis,John Stiles,James Syler, J.A.Taylor,Jno. Williams and James Warren.

Tidbits from the Fayetteville Observer.
A.C.Bostick had a fine colt which took two premiums at the LCT Fair in September, 1878.
The attendance at the fair was small when compared with former years.Threatening weather and hard times were prominent causes.

May 21,1891
A few days since Mr. A.C.Bostick, of Smithland was kicked by a horse and is still lame from it.

July 23,1896
A.C.Bostick and son have the finest lot of popular saw logs hauled here for sale to be found in any part of the county. they say they have about 1,500 cut and will ship them from this place.

August 20, 1896
Mr.A.C.Bostick loads a car with corn every day and and has several car loads more to ship. Mr. Lewis Bostick has four car loads that he will haul to this place for shipping.
