Grace Hardin married Lafayette Courtney, Jr. in 1917. In 1944 they adopted a boy, born August 2, 1944 in Muskogee, OK, and gave him the name of Jerry Courtney. Lafayette died in 1949 and in 1950 Grace married Herbert Jackson (H.J.) Moore and Jerry's last name became Moore. In 1953 H.J., Grace and Jerry were staying in a rented room in the home of George W. and Margaret (Maggie) Allen in Meridian. Grace became ill and died at Mattey Hearse on 12/26/1953. After H.J. left Meridian, the Allen's adopted Jerry, giving him the name of Gerald Eugene Allen.
