Julius was the son of Samuel Oviatt(1779-1884)and Lois Beckwith(1781-1857) He was born on 12 March, 1808 in Braceville, Trumbull, Ohio.

He married Mary S Galbreath(1812-1837) on 25 Oct,1832. They had two daughters and three sons.
The oldest son died at birth.(1832)
One son, Ephraim Oviatt(1834-1872) served in the 5th Michigan Cavalry during the Civil War.
One son, Samuel J Oviatt(1836-1863) served with the 57th Ohio Volunteer Infantry Co D. He died at Camp Sherman, Mississippi. He is buried at Vicksburg National Cemetery.
I have no information about their two daughters.

Julius(1808-1846) married Editha S Lamphier(1818-1890) on June 30, 1838.
Editha and Julius had two sons and two daughters together:
The sons both served in the Civil War.
Martin V Oviatt(1839-1904)who was in the 6th Ohio Volunteer Cavalry, CO K, in the Civil War.
David W Oviatt(1843-1864)who served in the 82nd Ohio Infantry. David was shot in the leg and died from gangrene in Jefferson, Indiana. He is buried in the New Albany National Cemetery.
Mary Oviatt(1841-1861) was born in Trumbull, Ohio. She married Thomas Jefferson Hills, Jr(1835-1907) on Aug 12, 1856 in Delaware, Ohio.
Martha A Oviatt(1842-1929)was born in Trumbull, Ohio. She married George W Gilbert(1838-1864) Then George Howlett(1835-1895).
