Frank Amos, retired veteran railroad engineer who was employed in this capacity for many years by the Ann Arbor Railroad, drove his automobile into the path of a southbound Ann Arbor freight train at Phelps Crossing, north of Farwell, at 10:18 (EWT) Thursday morning, and was apparently killed instantly.
Dr. G. E. Lamb, Ann Arbor company physician, was called, and acting in his capacity of County Coroner, determined that the cause of death was accidential. Mr. Amos, who lived near the crossing and was deaf, was in the car alone and apparently did not hear the approaching train.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete as we go to press.
