Herbert Session Giles
Born at Friend, Nebraska, June 13, 1888, Herbert Session Giles is a life resident of Nebraska. His father, Daniel Samuel Giles was a farmer of Pennsylvania Dutch descent, born at Pulaski, Iowa, January 17, 1863. He died at Juniata on January 7, 1926. His mother, Olive Lena Lancaster, was born at Moweaqua, Illinois, January 1, 1870, and is of English, Irish and Dutch extraction,
Herbert S. Giles received his education in the public schools of Juniata, and entered upon his life as a farmer.
On August 26, 1908, he was married to Charity W. Benight at Juniata. Mrs. Giles, whose father was a veteran of the Civil War, was born in Brooks, Iowa, August 22, 1890. There are three children: Wayne, born May 15, 1909, married Ruth Jones; Melvin, born October 6, 1911; and Harley, born October 1913. Wayne attended Hastings College and the Georgia School of Technology, while Melvin and Harley are students at Hastings College at the present time.
Mr. Giles is a member of the Juniata Methodist Episcopal Church, the Modern Woodmen of America, the Nebraskana Society, the Parent Teachers Association and the local school board of which he is president. His hobby is mechanics. Residence: Juniata.
