Susanna, daughter of Samuel A. and Elizabeth Aroms (Correction: Adams) was born in Vincennes, Knox County, Indiana on January 22, 1846 and departed this life at the home of her son James D. Allen of McDonald, Kansas the morning of Feb. 8, 1924. Aged 78 years and 16 days. She was united in marriage to Wm. H. Allen at Vincennes, Ind. in 1864. Later they moved to Missouri and lived there a while before coming to Kansas.
She was the mother of five children; John H. and Cora Louise who died in infancy, Lillie in young womanhood, and George W. four years ago. James D. with whom she made her home in her last years alone survives her, her husband having been called from this life Sept. 19, 1907. She also leaves five grandchildren, Lillie, Bessie, Floyd, Blye and Mrs. Pearl Heer; three great-grandchildren, Norval, Mary and Marjorie and three brothers, Samuel and John Adams of Indiana and Jas. Adams of Kansas.
She very early in life accepted the pardoning grace of her Savior and united with the Methodist Church at Vincennes, Ind., when only sixteen years of age. She was ready to answer the call that came without warning.
"Weep not, she is not dead, but sleepeth."
The funeral service was conducted by Rev. W. H. Dickinson, February 10, 1924 at 11 o'clock at the Federated Church. Interment was made in the McDonald cemetery.
We wish to thank all who kindly helped and comforted us during our bereavement in the loss of our mother and grandmother.
