Parents: William Beers, Hannah Boyd Beers of Connecticut.
Spouse: Lucy Emma Child (1845-1931) Married, 17 Dec., 1865 at Freedom, Illinois. Marriage certificate is on file at Ottawa, Ill. Courthouse. Lucy is buried in Riverside Cemetery.
Five children from this marriage; Lovenia Marie, Albert William, Lewis Bradford, Caroline Elizabeth and Edgar.

Anson came from Connecticut about 1826. He went to Freedom, Illinois with his family in 1849. 9 Sept, 1862 he enlisted in the Northern army after the outbreak of the Civil War. After his discharge, he married Lucy Beers and they went to Earlville, Illinois in 1876,where he farmed with his brother Pliney; 1879 to Grundy Center, Iowa, 1881 to Mason City, Iowa, and 1884 to Nora Springs, Iowa, where they remained. Two children were born in Iowa. Anson was a farmer by occupation. He died of pneumonia.

Military: Anson enlisted in Capt. Henshaw's Independent Battery, Illinois Light Brigade. He served with his brother Pliney. They fought battles in Kentucky and Tennessee. Anson was mustered out and honorably discharged 18 July, 1865, rank of Corporal at Springfield, Illinois. Another brother, George, served in the war from Ohio, which put three sons of William and Hannah Beers in the war.

Anson's pension papers describe him as 5'9 1/2" tall, dark complexion, black eyes, black hair.
