Miss Alza Hainey was the youngest in a family of four children born to Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Hainey. She was born in Riley County, Kansas June 17, 1882 and was taken to the other country last Saturday afternoon. Two sisters, Miss Altha and Miss Alma remain to lament this sad loss; as also the only brother, Mr. E. O. Hainey of Hayes township.
Miss Hainey's illness began in the early part of winter and lasted for five to six months. She never fully recovered.
She was baptized and received into the M.E. Church November 1, 1896, in which connection she lived faithful to the last. Her love for music was very strong and some of her favorite songs were sung at her funeral.
The sad last rites were observed at the M.E. Church of Green, conducted by the Rev. Homer Wroten. The interment was at the cemetery of the old Baptist Church, three and one-half miles north of Green and in sight of the home where she had lived.
