Ruth E. O'Brien, 91, of Port Charlotte, FL died August 3, 2006 in Canton, OH. She was born December 30, 1914 in Mitchel County, NC. She was a retired District Sales Manager with Avon Products, Inc. and was a member of the Eagles and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. O'Brien moved to this area in 1974 from Navarre, Ohio.
She is survived by her son, John (Juanita) Dillinger of Knightdale, NC; daughter, Jane (David) Grimm of Dalton, OH; grandchildren, Jon (Karen) Dillinger of Raleigh, NC, Cherylynn (James) Hoover of Knightdale, NC, Ilona (Ed) McHale of Moseley, VA, Connie Honsberger, Ruth Little and Laurie Zimmerman all of Largo, FL, Daphne Grimm of Akron, OH and Kathy Grimm of Dalton, OH; 11 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild; sisters, Mae Snodgrass of Pt Charlotte, FL, Irene Stansbury of Johnson City, TN, Judy Hodge of Bluff City, TN, Glo Huston of Surgoinsville, TN, Lois Sills of Johnson City, TN; brother, Ed Edwards of Johnson City, TN; son-in-law, Bob Delimon, nephew, Cad Snodgrass, many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her parents, she is pre deceased by her first husband, John Dillinger in 1957; second husband, Donald O'Brien; son, Jerry Lee Dillinger; daughter, Phyllis Delimon and sister, Barbara Cable.
The family will receive friends from 2:00pm till the memorial service at 3:00 pm, Saturday, September 30, 2006 at the Kays-Ponger Funeral Home 635 E Marion Avenue, Punta Gorda, FL. The family has requested memorial contributions may be made to Tidewell Hospice and Palliative Care, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238.
