Robert H. Hare, 78, of 141 North 10th St., died Thursday 3:25 a.m. in the Mifflin Healthcare Center, Cumru Township.
He was the husband of Joyce A. (Dower) Hare.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Howard and Lillian (Brandt) Hare.
He was emploted for 25 years by the former American Chain and Cable Inc. and later as an expediter by the Reading Water Bureau, retiring in 1979.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
A former musical director of the Rajah Temple String Band, Hare was sergeant major emeritus of the Legion of Honor Drum Corps.
He was also an honorary member of the Arab Patrol of the Rajah Temple.
Hare is also survived by a son, Kenneth Hare, Wilkes Barre, Luzerne County; and a stepson, William Graff, Hamburg.
Other survivors include five stepdaughters: Constance, wife of Howard Hunter, Birdsboro; Carole, wife of Gordon Bentz, Laureldale; Vera, wife of Santo Guido, Mount Penn; Sharon, wife of Ronald Ohlinger, Shillington; and Cindy Personette, Reading.
Also surviving are a stepmother, Ruth Hare, Reading; and five grandchildren, 15 stepgrandchildren, six great-grandchildren, 10 stepgreat-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be Tuesday at 9 a.m. in Auman Funeral Home, Reading. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Lebanon County.
