Mrs. Nora Bowen, 88, a resident of Webster county for the past forty years, died at her home in the Carter apartments Wednesday afternoon following a short illness.

The 1860 US census shows Patrick O'Connell (45) and wife Catherine (36) living in Washington Township, Bremer County, Waverly Post Office, Iowa with children Hanora (14), Johanna (12), Bridget (6), Morris (4) and Alice (2).

Philip Bowen (23) married Nora O'Connell (18), the daughter of Patrick and Catherine (Regan) O'Connell at Waverly, Bremer County, Iowa on December 20, 1866. The service was held at St. Marys Church in Waverly by Father Shields. Patrick and Nora O'Connell were pioneer settlers of Bremer County, Iowa.

With her husband, she came to Fort Dodge many years ago and had made her home here ever since. She is survived by the following children, Mrs. Edward A. Taylor, the Misses Mary and Alice, Mrs. James McIntyre, Daniel and Philip H. Bowen of Fort Dodge, Mrs. George A. Williams of Milwaukee and William F. Bowen of Cherokee. One daughter, Mrs. Nell Dillon, preceded her in death as did four sisters and one brother. There are fifteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. The body will be taken from Laufersweiler's late this afternoon to the Taylor residence, 1326 Eighth avenue north. Funeral services will take place Saturday morning at 8:30 at the Taylor home and 9 o'clock at Sacred Heart church. Burial will be in the family lot in the Corpus Christi cemetery. The Rev. C. P. Sweeney will be in charge. Among those from away who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. George A. Williams and son of Milwaukee, William T. Bowen and family of Cherokee, Miss Helen Bowen of Phoenix, AZ, Mrs. Edward Fisher and daughter Joann of Indianapolis, Mrs. Charles Garlock of Rockford, IL, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Edwards of Dakota City, Mrs. John Hogan of Cherokee, Mr. and Mrs. Charles G. Anderson and daughter of Waterloo, Mr. and Mrs. George H. Dillon of Sioux City, Frank Sager, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Guiney and Miss Fannie Guiney of Waverly.

Hogan and Anderson attendees are descendent from Bridget (O'Connell) Sullivan, Nora Bowen's sister. Sager and Guiney attendees are descendents from Johanna (O'Connell) Guiney, Nora Bowen's sister.

Her siblings include Johanna O'Connell, Mrs. John Guiney (1851-1909), Bridget O'Connell, Mrs. Patrick Sullivan (1855-1931), Miss Alice O'Connell (1858-1884) and Morris O'Connell (1856-1932). The fourth sister is unknown.
