Violet's mother died when Violet was only six years old, in 1918 of chronic interstitial nephritis. After Violet's mother died, John T Warren being too elderly to care for a young girl, Violet lived with each of her three half sisters in turn as well as other relatives. She had a difficult childhood as a result.
Violet moved with her half sister Myrtle to the Los Angeles area sometime in the late 1920's where she attended high school and met a handsome young man named Parle Kelley. They were in love and one thing led to another, however Parle's family would not allow the couple to get married. Another young man named Walter Thayer Simon was very much in love with Violet and they soon married in 1929.
During her marriage to Walter Thayer Simon, Violet gave birth to two sons and a daughter. Thayer and Violet divorced around 1939 and in 1941 she married James Orland James, with whom she had a daughter and a son. After around 15 years, Violet and James were divorced. Violet married Mario Nicholas Campos in 1964; he passed away in 1972.
Violet loved to read, study history and do genealogical research on the Warren family, who she incorrectly believed was her paternal family. Based on her research she was admitted to the Magna Carta Dames as a descendant of William de Warrene, a relative of William the Conqueror. She ordered a headstone for herself about ten years before she passed away that has the crests of the Magna Carta Dames as well as the Warren family. Violet shared many family stories and old family photos with her children and grandchildren, taking much pride in her lineage. She took creative writing courses at college and wrote many articles for the local newspaper.
Violet passed away at the age of 85 and was survived by three sons, two daughters, thirteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
