Services for William Alexander Duffin, 67, 2210 2nd Ave. N., will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Christ Lutheran Church, with the Rev Theodore Gutzloff Guetzlaff, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery with a graveside flag presentation by the VFW.

Friends may call at Bruce Funeral Home until 8:30 a.m. Monday when the casket will be taken to the church.

Mr. Duffin was dead on arrival at Trinity West Hospital, Thursday, August 9, 1973, afternoon, following a sudden illness at work.

Surviving are the widow, Luella Knutson Johnson Duffin; step-children, Mrs. Anita Isaacson, Storm Lake; Miss Debbie Johnson, Fort Wayne, IN; Alan, Danny and LuAnn Johnson, at home; sisters, Mrs. Hazel Shumate, Paxton, IL; and Mrs Mary (Floyd J) Morris, Fort Worth, TX.

Mr. Duffin was born in rural Buckley, Artesia Twnp, Iroquois County, IL on January 14, 1905 a son of Beulah G. Hughes and George Duffin. He attended local schools in Iroquois County, IL. About the age of 16 he went to live with his maternal grandparents, Alice Bradford and William E. Hughes in Pipestone, MN. He served in the US Navy for three years during World War II as Chief Petty Officer. He had begun working with Nelson Ice Cream Company in 1924 at Fairmont, MN; following service, he returned to the company, and came to Fort Dodge about 1950, working with the Nelson Company which was purchased by Marigold Foods, Inc., in 1959. Mr. Duffin was manager of Marigold until his retirement in 1971, then continued working with the company, and was in charge of trucks and refrigeration. In 1969 he married Luella Knutson Johnson in Fort Dodge.

He was life member of the VFW and American Legion
