To this union 10 children were born: Mrs. Ture (Gladys) Ring, Bryant; Earl, Seattle, Washington; Ralph, Lake Norden; Walfred, Brooklyn, NY; Mrs. George (Luella) Tillma, Castlewood; Curtis, Tacoma, Washington; Mrs. Bill (Lorraine) Calhoun; Carlie and Elmo, all of Seattle, Washington; and Mrs. Ed (Marjorie) Oldenkemp), Arlington.
He was a fathful member of Mission Covenant church of Lake Norden. Before moving to Lake Norden, Mr. and Mrs. Swanson resided at Marvin, where Mr. Swanson owned and operated grocery and dry goods store for years. In March 1949 they moved to Seattle.
Services were held at Chapel Georgetown Funeral Home in Seattle October 19th at 1 o'clock. Rev C.O. Springer officiating used as his text the deceased's favorite scripture passages, the 23rd Psalm, I Chapter of Psalm and St. John 14:1, 2 and 3. James May, soloist, sang "Safe In the Arms of Jesus" and "The Old Rugged Cross." Nadine Hopkins was organist. Burial was made at beautiful Washington Memorial Park.
He was a kind, loving, understanding Christian husband and father who will be greatly missed by his beloved wife, four daughters, six sons, 28 grandchildren, and one brother, Dave Swanson of Sioux Falls, as well as a host of other relatives and friends. His real smile and cherry greetings will always be remembered.
We shall meet but we shall miss himThere will be one vacant chair. We shall linger to caress himWhen we breathe our evening prayer.
