Death of W. M. Crandall
The many friends of W. M. Crandall will be pained to learn of his death at his home, "Forest Park" at Pickering, La., at 8:30 o'clock p.m. Sept. 13, 1911, at the age of 68 years and 3 days. Mr. Crandall has been a silent sufferer with Brights disease in its worst form for some time. He was confined to his bed for just one week. The end was very peaceful and he died with a sweet smile of happiness on his face. His dying words, " I would rather be over there. Meet me there."
He was born in Pennsylvania, Sept. 10, 1843. At the age of 21, he enlisted and gave 3 years of his life in serving his country. He contracted diseases during that time that have caused him many years of suffering in his later life. Mr Crandall will be remembered as an honest and upright man by all with whom he came in contacted. He has been a member of the First M. E. church for the past 25 years. He leaves to mourn his loss: His wife and companion of 44 years, also three sons and two daughters. R.B. Crandall and Bruce Crandall of Pickering, La.; W. D. Crandall of Johnson, Minn.; Mrs. S. P. Miller, Chokio, Minn.; Mrs. J. W. Roberts, Clinton, Minn. Besides these one brother, A. G. Crandall and one sister, Mrs. Brittania Hill, residing in California, and a sister, Mrs. David Craig, residing in Palmyra, Wis. His wife and two sons were all that were able to be present during his last illness.
