Mrs. Alsnauer was born March 14, 1928, in Brownsville, PA, a daughter of Joseph and Mary (Kekich) Duich. She moved to the area as an infant and was a 1946 alumna of Farrell High School.
Following her graduation, Mary was briefly employed by the GC Murphy Co. and The Sharon Store before working as an operator for Bell Telephone for nearly ten years.
Her husband, William E. Alsnauer, whom she married July 7, 1951, passed away November 24, 2000.
Beba, as she was known by many, was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, Sharon.
She was very family oriented and cherished her role as a homemaker. She loved cooking and baking for her family and shopping with her daughter.
She and her husband, who were rarely apart, also liked traveling to California to visit their children and grandchildren when they all resided there.
She was very social and looked forward to visiting with friends and bowling in a women’s morning league at Hickory Bowl in Hermitage.
Surviving are: a daughter, Mary Ann Alsnauer, Pittsburgh; a son, William E. Alsnauer, Jr. and his wife Suzanne, Aliso Viejo, CA; and two grandchildren, Allison and Jillian. She also leaves several cousins, nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, Beba was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Joseph Duich, Jr. and his wife Faye.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Meals on Wheels program, c/o Christ Lutheran Church, 396 Buhl Blvd., Sharon, PA 16146.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, October 31, 2016, in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 1, 2016, in the funeral home, with Rev. Lisa Hickman, Director of Pastoral Care at First Presbyterian Church, Sharon, officiating.
Interment: America’s Cemetery, Hermitage.
