He immigrated through New York with his parents, his sister Elizabeth and his nephew Rudolf Kappler on 13 Dec 1869 (Ship was City of Brooklyn). He married Rosa Haney 5 Sept 1873 in New Philadelphia, OH. They had 10 children and lived out their lives in northeastern Ohio, most of the time farming. He apparently changed the surname from the German Niederhäuser to Niederhiser, presumably to improve the English phonetics.
