OBITUARY INFORMATION: Dean Embree Brown

Dean Embree Brown was born the son of Virley and Minona (French) Brown on Friday, June 27, 1919 in Pleasanton, Iowa.

Dean grew up and attended school in Pleasanton. After high school he joined the US Army in 1942 where he served in India and Japan during the war. He returned to Newberg to live on the family farm. On December 23, 1951 he married Loretta Huether. They made their home and raised their family in Newberg. Dean worked as a yardman at Spalding Paper Mill, later the mill became Publishers Paper. He very much enjoyed working on his farm and using his farm equipment. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.

On Wednesday, April 13, 2011, Dean Embree Brown died at a local care facility ninety-one years, ten months and sixteen days of age.

Surviving and left to honor his life are: His wife Loretta of Newberg; two daughters, Betty Shoop and Charlene Cappoen, both of Newberg; one son Russell Brown of Newberg; two brothers, Lyle Brown of Grants Pass, and Lorrell Brown of Roseburg; two sisters, Margaret Fogle of Newberg and Mary Brown of California; one grandson and those who have come to know and appreciate him where he has lived and worked. His parents and one son James preceded him in death.

His Graveside Service will be Friday, April 15, 2011, at 11:00 am in Newberg Friends Cemetery, Newberg with Pastor Don Fivecoat officiating. Chapel Viewing and Visitation hours are Thursday, April 14 from 2:00 pm to 5:30 pm. and Friday, April 15 from 9:00 am to 10:30 am at Attrell's Newberg Funeral Chapel, a Golden Rule funeral home.
