Final Rites Held Here for George D. Horstmann

Mr. George D. Horstmann, a life-long resident of O'Brien County and a businessman here in Primghar for many years, passed away Sunday, September 12th, at the Ward Memorial hospital here after an extended illness. He had been under a doctor's care for some time, suffering from an internal ailment.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at the funeral at 1:30 and at the Congregational church at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. A. Morris Lotte and Rev. Ralph Beebe of Sibley officiating.

Masonic services were conducted for Mr. Horstmann, who was a member of Rising Star Lodge 493 A. F. and A. M. and to the Samara Chapter of the Royal Arch Masons.

Mr. Horstmann is survived by his wife and two children, Mrs. Helene Lampman, of Speedway, Ind., and Donald, of Iowa City. Also surviving are his mother, Mrs. Dick Horstmann of Primghar, a brother, Fred Horstmann of Minneapolis, and four sisters: Mrs. Mayme Riedemann, of Primghar, Mrs. Sophie Anderson, of Pasadenda, Calif.; Mrs. Lena Braunschweig, of Primghar; and Miss Hattie Horstmann, of Primghar.

Interment was made at the Pleasant Hill cemetery here with the Seivert Funeral Home in charge.

Mr. George D. Horstmann was born on August 9, 1896, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dick Horstmann. He was born in the Highland township, O'Brien County, Iowa. He was confirmed in the Evangelical church.

On March 4, 1920, he was married in Primghar to Alma Klink. The have two children, Donald of Iowa City and Mrs. Helene Lampman of Speedway, Indiana. There are two grandchildren, Sandra and Deborah Kae.

For many years he farmed in Center township. He was very much interested in sports. He belonged to Rising Star Lodge 496 A. F. and A. M. and to the Samara Chapter of the Royal Arch Masons.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Dick Horstmann, of Primghar; one living brother, Fred Horstmann, of Minneapolis, Minn.; and four living sisters, Mrs. Mayme Riedemann of Primghar; Mrs. Sophie Anderson of Pasadena, Calif.; Mrs. Lena Braunschweig of Primghar; and Miss Hattie Horstmann of Primghar. One brother, Henry, and one sister, Mrs. Anna Schoening preceded him in death.
