The son of Avery H. and Emma R. (Dunn) Chapman, Mr. Chapman grew up on a farm near Arapaho. It was at Arapaho that he was married to Ruby Pearl Coen on July 16, 1927. After living at Leedey, OK for a short time they moved to Waukomis. For many years he was custodian of the Enid Public Schools. He was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church.
The funeral service for Mr. Chapman was held at Fossett Funeral Home chapel in Enid, officiated by the Rev. Elmer Watkins, with burial at the Memorial Cemetery in Enid.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, are four daughters: Pearl Seltenrich and her husband Cliff; Hazel O'Banion and her husband Floyd; Myrtle Spicer and her husband Claude; and Bertha Miller and her husband Orville. Also surviving are several grandchildren, three brothers and three sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
