Son of James Raymond and Clara Inace (Hart) Chapman, Uncle Dick was married to Nina Alma Ealey on Sep. 24, 1911 at Beebe, AR. To this union were born six children: Elvin James, Juanita, Nina Lucille, Raymond Edward, Nellie Irene and Nora Luella.
Preceded in death by parents, wife and two daughters: Juanita in 1917 and Nora Lou in 1980, siblings: Alice, Avery, Nellie, Paul and four sisters in infancy. Survivors include his children, 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
He was a farmer, hunter, painter and country poet. His work was published in the Clinton Daily News and the West View Magazine, a publication of Southwestern Oklahoma State University. He was a member of the Poetry Society of Oklahoma, The National Rifle Association and the First Methodist Church of Arapaho.
Funeral services were held Dec. 27, 1985 at the First Methodist Church in Arapaho, officiated by the Rev. Dale Snider. Burial was in the Arapaho Cemetery under the direction of Kern-Schneider-Kiesau Funeral Home.
