"JOE W."

Retired from Exxon Co. USA after 32 years of service, owner of Paradise Seed Co. and a local farmer, he died at 8:05 p.m. Thursday, May 25, 2000, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, Baton Rouge. He was 72 and a lifelong resident of Zachary. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, having served on the USS Baltimore and as part of the occupation forces in Japan. Visiting was at Charlet Funeral Home, Zachary, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday. Visiting was at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m. Saturday, conducted by the Rev. Pat Ginn. Interment was in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Baker. Survived by his wife of more than 52 years, Clara Lipscomb Annison , Zachary; two daughters, Meryal Ethel "Lell" Annison , Houston, and Katherine Carruth "K.C." Annison , Zachary; three foster daughters, Margaret Altazin, Zachary, Ann Lauret, Plaquemine, and Valerie Lansford, Manvel, Texas; a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph W. "Andy" III and Suzanne Annison , Zachary; a brother and sister-in-law, James Carruth and Margaret Lee Annison , Slaughter; grandchildren and spouses, Tanya and Hunter Ingersoll, Kathi and David Gordon, Christine and Eddy Franz, Shelly Annison , James Noel "Jimmy" Annison , Jason and Stacie Oliver, Carl Ryan Kurtz, Brandon Lacoste and Ainhoa Alvarez-Badejo; four great-grandchildren, Tara Katherine Ingersoll, Collin Harrison Gordon, Kyle David Gordon and Aaron Joseph Oliver; and special friends, Erskine and Joyce Pou, the Rev. Pat and Sara Ginn, the Rev. James W. Ailor, Clarence Bennett and his housekeeper of 16 years, Rita Davis. Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph William Annison and Addie Meryal Newsom Annison ; and an infant brother. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Annison , David Felder, Eddie Franz, David Gordon, Hunter Ingersoll and Jason Oliver. Honorary pallbearers are Ed Berryhill, Sidney Blitzer, Elvis Brian, Vernon Brian, Jerry Brown, Scott Grandbouche, Carl Hancock, Clint Haverty, Clay Johnson, Wilmer Mills, Jim Strahan, Otto Yllander and Bill Zollinger. He was a memb er of Appaloosa Horse Club, American Quarter Horse Association, National Reining Horse Association, National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors and charter member of the Creole chapter, national and local Cattlemen's Association, Louisiana Farm Bureau, a former board member of Zachary Chamber of Commerce, Louisiana Arts and Science Center, Baton Rouge Area Foundation and LSU Alumni Association. He was a member of Zachary United Methodist Church, where he was an usher and member of the board and the building committee. He was a member of American Legion Zachary Post, a charter member of Troop 72, Zachary, and a former leader in Boy Scouts. Memorial donations may be made to Zachary United Methodist Church Building Fund or Endowment Fund, Louisiana Methodist Children's Home in Ruston, Baton Rouge Area Foundation, LSU Alumni Association or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
