"Michael J. Carroll, a well known resident of Franklin, passed away Wednesday afternoon at his home on Russell Street. He had been ill for the past five weeks. Death was due to inflammation of the bladder. Mr. Carroll was born in Youghal, County Cork, Ireland and was 73 years old. He came to Franklin from Ireland 27 years ago and for the first 21 years of his residence here was employed in the beater room at the lower paper mill. For the past 6 years he has been employed in the card room at Steven's mills. Mr. Carroll was one of the oldest members of St. Paul's church. He is survived by four daughters and two sons. Mrs Gilbert S. Merrill, David Carroll, Mrs. John M. Lynch, Mrs. Edward Dwyer, Peter J. Carroll of Pawtucket, R. I. and Mrs. James P. Hanley."
