The Rev. Walter Hewlette Adams, 84, of Lands Crossing Community of Irwin County died Thursday, November 28, 2002, at his residence.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. today at Big Creek Baptist Church with intermenty in Big Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
A native of Wilcox County, the Rev. Adams was pastor for Antioch Baptist Church in Worth County for 29 years. He was pastor at Double Run Baptist Church in Wilcox County and Prospect Baptist Church in Ben Hill County. The Rev. Adams was a school bus driver, a Mason and former chaplain for the Irwin County Hospital and the Bank of Fitzgerald. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Judy Adams and Glenn Lamar Deaver of Albany; three grandchildren, Glenn Lamar Deaver Jr. of Thomasville, Adam Ward Deaver of Macon and Tiffani Vel Deaver of Albany; great-grandchildren, Carrie Elizabeth Deaver and Hannah Alysse Deaver, Kennedy Lane Deaver, Amber Magdeline Deaver, Matthew James Rogers, Devan Vel Deaver and Terrell-Carolyn Berlin Deaver; three brothers, Cecil Adams of Rebecca, Nathaniel Adams of Wilcox County and Harmon Adams of Rebecca; two sisters, Geraldine Evans of Irwin County and Annette Mashburn of Rebecca.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Evans Adams and parents, Walter James Adams and Mary Jane Whittle Adams.
