James Royce Grigsby, 68 of Waxahachie, passed away Sunday, August 12, 2012 surrounded by his loving family, after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was born on April 10, 1944 in Teague, Texas to the late Royce Aaron and Clara Slay Grigsby.
James was loved and respected by all who knew him. He was a Christian man who put God first, followed by his love for his family. He was a lifelong member of South Prong Baptist Church. James will forever be etched in our eyes and in our hearts.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gladys Mary Grigsby; his daughters, Kelly Grigsby Montgomery, Leslie Grigsby Smiley; his brothers, Jackie Grigsby and his wife, Helen, Tony Grigsby and his wife, Mary; his sister, Mary Holmes and her husband, Dan; he is also survived by his loving grandchildren, Dylan James Montgomery, Emily Neil Dulin, Greyson Renee Smiley and Ethan Taylor Smiley; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Royce Aaron Grigsby; his mother, Clara Slay Grigsby; and also by his brother, Zackie Grigsby.
A memorial service to celebrate his life is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 16, 2012 at the South Prong Baptist Church.
Visitation for family and friends will begin at Noon on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at South Prong Baptist Church and will last until service time.
