Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013 in the Gates Road Baptist Church for Mrs. Carolyn Faye Broom, 80, of Columbia, who died Tuesday, Feb. 5 at her residence. Interment was in the Gates Road Cemetery. Bro. Everette Broome and Bro. Jimmy Barber officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 6 at Hathorn Funeral Home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Shelton Marion "Frank" Broom; parents, Carley and Elizabeth Lowery; brothers, R.L. Lowery, Luther Edward "Shorty" Lowery and Earl Lowery and sister, Elizabeth Hart.

Survivors include sons, Marion Ray Broom, Steve Broom and Tommy Broom, all of Columbia; daughters, Teresa Sherman and Cecelia "Sissy" Walley (Stuart), both of Columbia; sisters, Joyce Stringer of Columbia and Gladys Stevens of Bethpage, Tenn.; brothers, James L. "Buddy" Lowery and Carlos "Jack" Lowery, both of Columbia; grandsons, Shane Broom (Angel) of Columbia, Kyle Walley of Columbia and Nick Broom of Laurel and great grandchildren, Cameron, Dallas and Danika Broom, all of Columbia.
