Death of Judge Abney

Granger, Tex., May 5-News was received here this morning of the death of Judge Rube I. Abney at Lampasas. For several months he has been troubled with a liver and heart disease, but had been attending to his daily duties as editor of the Granger Times, which position he has held for the last twelve months. He left on the Tuesday afternoon's train to visit his sister in Coleman, Tex., but did not get further than Lampasas. Judge Abney was 49 years of age and came here fourteen months ago from Quincy, Fla., Since which time he had been connected with the Granger Times. He lived in Taylor, Tex., during the '80s and was a charter member of the Knights of Pythias Lodge at that place, but at the time of his death was a member of Granger Lodge K. of P., having moved his membership from Florida about one month ago. His only child, Miss Annie Belle, is attending the Florida State College.
