MAXINE'S OBITUARY
Maxine Hubbs Brockhaus was the definition of matriarch. Born December 27th, 1920 to George and Isabella Hubbs, she passed away on December 14th, 2021, just shy of her 101st birthday. Before what she would call her timely death, Maxine enjoyed cooking and reading cook books; a love that she shared with her family. She could also be found at her favorite slot machine alongside her daughter.

Maxine was a homemaker, active member of the Yukon community, and dedicated parishioner at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church in Yukon. She married Lawrence Brockhaus in 1942 and they remained in love until his death in 1988. When she reached the incredible milestone of turning 100, she was celebrated by her family as well as the community. An article honoring her was published in the El Reno Tribune, and she was asked by El Reno High School to come speak about her life. Afterwards, students sent her a letter thanking her for sharing her story, a letter that she framed and proudly displayed in her living room.

Lovingly referred to as Granny by most, Maxine was described by her family as independent and fiercely herself. Several generations had the pleasure of going to her house every October to make her famous kolaches. She is survived by her daughter Geraldine and her grandchildren Craig, Cheryl, Jay and Christy, Amy, and Kara and Neal. She also leaves behind 10 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren, and countless extended family and close friends. Recognition and gratitude is given to her grandson Craig and her great-granddaughter Megan for the special care and attention they gave her during the final months of her life. She is also survived by her beloved cats BB and KC.

All are welcome to attend her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 17, 2021 at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, Yukon, with interment following at the Yukon Cemetery.
Maxine Leontine (Hubbs) Brockhaus was inducted into the CENTENARIANS OF OKLAHOMA HALL OF FAME having reached the age of 100 years. She lived 101 years. Maxine was asked her thoughts about living to be 100 years old and said: "I WOULDN'T CHANGE A THING". Maxine's Centenarian file will be sent to the Oklahoma Historical Society in Oklahoma City to become a permanent part of Oklahoma History.
