Our dear mother was just passing through this lifetime on a journey to see her Savior.

She devoted many hours to the study of God's Word in worship and praise for Him. Her inner light did shine; Wilma loved the Lord Jesus; and her cheerful personality was her best trait, greeting everyone with a sweet happy "hello."

She was adored by her family and friends and anyone that spent time with her. Wilma was a dedicated mother and grandmother, homemaker, and talented seamstress. She was so good at tatting lace she taught classes at her senior living center. Her tatting adorned the edges of many loving gifts to her family and friends.

Our dear mother was called to her heavenly home on April 8, 2014, age 97. She was born in Snyder, OK to John W. Solomon and Oma A. Noel and preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William "Bill" A. Ahrend; sister, Margaret Womack; and son-in-law, Jim Conkin.

She is survived by her son, William "Bill" Ahrend and wife Faye; her two daughters, Donna Conkin and Margaret "Margee" Gaeddert and her husband Anthony "Tony"; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Wilma graduated from Chickasha High School in 1939. Bill and Wilma married on June 5, 1940, and raised their children in Tulsa, OK and 40 years later, moved to Edmond and Oklahoma City, OK, celebrating over 50 years of marriage.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, April 14, Matthews Funeral Home, 601 S. Kelly, Edmond, OK. Viewing will be Sunday, April 13, noon - 8 p.m. with Family Greet 4-6 p.m.
