Funeral services were held Friday,September 1, at 3 p.m. for Mrs. J. B. Berry of Rt.4, Fitzgerald, at Ocilla Primitive Baptist Church. Elder M. T. Thomas and Dr. Aubrey Alsobrook officiated at the services and burial which was at Whitley Cemetery in Irwin County, Ga.
Pallbearers were Monroe Fletcher, Thurston Ashley, Arthur Metts, Elie Vickers, Sam Turk and Oliver Broome.
Mrs. Berry, the former Salanda Whitley was born November 7, 1881, in Irwin County, a daughter of Wiley Sr. and Catherine Henderson Whitley.
Survivors include her husband, J. B. Berry, Fitzgerald; two sons, Guy Berry, Mobile, Ala., and Whitley Berry, Fitzgerald, and one brother, Reason Whitley, Fitzgerald and two grandchildren, Mrs. Henry McLendon, Augusta and Billy Bob Berry, Atlanta.
Paulk Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Those from out of town attending the funeral were: Mrs. William Corbett, Mrs. J. C. Corbett and Johnny and Mrs. G. W.Kirkland, all of Pearson; Mrs. Fannie H. Ricketson and Mrs. Albert Paulk of Willacoochee; Mr. and Mrs. Henry McLendon, Jr. of Augusta; Mr. and Mrs. Guy Berry of Mobile, Ala., Mr. and Mrs. W. E. McElveen of Hazelhurst.
