From California. He died as a result of a skydiving air-drop training exercise. He was assigned to the 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) headquartered at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington state. His military education included the Detachment Leaders Course, Special Operational Detachment Qualification Course, Survival Evasion Resistance and Escape Course, Infantry Maneuver Captain's Career Course, Basic Airborne Course, the Static Line Jumpmaster Course, Military Freefall Course and a graduate of the Special Forces Assessment and Selection Course. He had received a number of military awards, including the Army Commendation Medal; Army Achievement Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Global War on Terror Service Medal; Army Service Ribbon; Rigger Badge Military Freefall Badge; and the Parachutist Badge. He was posthumously awarded the Meritorious Service Medal.
