V. L. Butrick died at his home in Lanesboro, August 21st, after a very short illness, although he had been in poor health for some time, he had worked in Reed's store the past year and had only quit work there the week before and his death was a great surprise to his many friends. He was 52 years of age and leaves a wife and one step-daughter, several brothers and sisters. Funeral was held at Lake City Monday afternoon and was laid to rest in the Lake City cemetery. The floral offerings were beautiful. A large crowd from here attended the funeral.

Valentine was the son of Wilson C. (Calvin W.)
and Martha Jane Butrick and a grandson of Enos and Catherine Butrick. Brothers and sisters were:
William, Frances, Malinda, Calvin, Celia, Perry, Lucy, Clara, and Sarah.
His wife's name was Edith Gertrude and his
step-daughter was May.
